A Peer2Peer Educational Approach to Improve Everyday Practice
Education remains the number one tool for EIP in making a huge impact on the way child healthcare professions advise and treat the children and families they support. By providing the latest advice and information to just one pediatrician EIP can improve healthcare for the thousands of children that HCP sees each year. Our targeted educational campaigns allow EIP to make a positive and measurable impact in the areas that need it most and we are multiplying this impact out across Europe and around the world.
Excellence in Pediatrics (EIP) believes that working directly with paediatricians is the only way to improve the identification, treatment and referral rates of children with a wide range of disorders and conditions. Pediatricians and family doctors are likely to be the first healthcare professionals to observe symptoms, and it is important to help these front-line clinicians suspect, diagnose, and refer patients.
The program aims to fight under-diagnosed or late-diagnosed conditions for which treatments are available and where early detection and early treatment could make a significant difference in the condition's development, the quality of life and the survival of patients.
By providing education and resources to EIP’s members, not only can they prepare themselves to spot the signs but crucially share materials (eLearnings, lectures, articles and webinars) with their colleagues, both online and face-to-face.
The Program is already live and initially targeted at Spotting the Signs of Metabolic Disorders, but will soon be expanded to include more conditions.
Educational Portal on Lysosomal Storage Disorders
The portal with over 180 pages of educational content serves as: (1) online course to train frontline paediatricians (2) a point of reference and information for the conditions (3) collaboration platform of a network of HCPs trained to Spot the Early Signs of Metabolic Disorders. Education content includes chapters on spotting the signs of Lysosomal Storage Disorders and specifically of Gaucher, Fabry and MPS diseases. Portal visitors are encouraged to contribute in content and make suggestions on additions, further readings and also to report cases from their day-day practice.
Educate The Educators Webinars on Lysosomal Storage Disorders
Educate the educators sessions in the form of webinars targeting: (1) to train volunteers, and (2) to train all frontline paediatricians interested to volunteer for the program.
Education Materials on LSDs
EIP has prepared a number of educational videos available to all child healthcare professionals for them to understand in depth Lysosomal Storage Disorders including the diseases background, the genetics and the mechanisms, the manifestations, and the available treatments.
Program Volunteers and Peer-2-Peer Education
EIP aims to gradually built a network of 1,000 HCPs who will volunteer either: (1) to speak at a webinar (2) to organise a briefing or a lecture in their facility (2) to share materials with their colleagues. The program targets to educate 6,000 frontline pediatricians, through:
